Description
Similar to our wonderful Everbearing, this small fruit tree is bushy and can make an informal hedge. Great for kids with many berries sprouting low to the ground. It is small, fits into most yards easily, and produces copious delicious, nutrient rich fruit twice a year, in spring and fall. The fruit continues to sprinkle in throughout the summer months as well. In 9B or warmer, this tree can have some fruit on it pretty much year around. Trim it to size, use it as a messy hedge; very versatile tree. Sun or part shade, dry or wet, it likes it all. It will respond to nutrition with more fruit but doesn't need a lot of it. Feed twice per year, manure or organic fertilizer, Jan and June. The leaves have been well respected in Chinese medicine for centuries, and also feed the famous silk worm. They are also edible when cooked; they do have some toxicity so please do your homework before consuming tons of leaves!
