A delicate pink flower in summer and bright lavender berries in fall and good growth in sun or shade make this a landscape favorite. Birds and butterflies appreciate this bushy plant. The leaves were used by Native Americans as mosquito repellent and show promise in studies. The berries are bland, but edible, and make a delicious jelly or colorful and flavorful dessert sauce. We harvest the berries every year to stock up on the yummy jelly.
