Cnidoscolus aconitifolius - Called “tree spinach” in the tropics, this robust bush provides nutritious food for millions of people year around in the tropics. It grows several feet wide and high in one season, and provides healthy greens all year around. This bush has more iron and vitamins than the spinach we are familiar with from grocery stores, and is a superfood. You need to boil these greens for eight minutes before eating to evaporate a mild toxin in them, and they can be prepared just like you would use spinach in any dish. With some fertility and sunlight, this plant can grow into a bush 15 feet tall and 10 feet wide! Plenty of greens for you and all of your friends. Frost sensitive, but will quickly grow back from the roots in spring.
